Our approach
“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen” - Brené Brown
We understand that it can be a scary step to seek the help of a professional to feel better. We all endure struggles that may leave us feeling hopeless, uncertain or powerless towards healing. You are unique and so your path to healing will be unique, but this does not mean you have to find this path on your own.
Beam Counselling works collaboratively, compassionately and creatively to shine light on your path towards healing. We honour that a supportive, empathetic and trusting relationship is at the foundation of this collaboration. From this foundation, we will explore what needs to change. We consider a counselling session to be a success if you leave with greater clarity on the problems you have faced, feeling more connected with yourself and confident in your capacity to change. We are here to foster this change to help you find a greater sense of stability and create space for more light.
“We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds, but we can take responsibility for the mind with which we create our world.” - Gabor Maté
Beam Counselling recognizes experiences of mistreatment and power imbalances span across identities, families, communities, and within the systems we need to rely on. While we may not be able to escape this, we can resist being defined or feeling trapped by the impact through connection with support.
In-person and remote options
